Search engine optimization.
Search engine optimization is the process of setting up a web site so it can be found through Google, Yahoo!, Bing and other search engines. Here are some techniques we use to optimize a site so each page has the best chance of being found for a particular search phrase:
| » |
|
Make the phrase the actual filename of the page, using dashes instead of spaces i.e. public-golf-course.htm. |
| |
| » |
|
Make the HTML page title the same as the phrase i.e. <title>Public Golf Course</title>. |
| |
| » |
|
Create a unique description meta tag for each page that includes the phrase plus a call to action. |
| |
| » |
|
Create a unique keywords meta tag for each page that includes any common misspellings. |
| |
| » |
|
Put the phrase for each page inside <h1> tags as close as possible to the top of the page. |
| |
| » |
|
Make sure the content of each page contains the keywords for which it is optimized. |
| |
| » |
|
Create either a footer or a site map with each phrase appearing as a text link to the related page. |
